There are two variations on today’s challenge. One is mostly for kids and one is mostly for adults.
Kids:
Today we are going to make a meal at home for your whole family. It can be Kraft mac n’ cheese or something homemade. No matter what you make, it will help to save your parents some time. The meal definitely doesn’t have to be time consuming or fancy, it just has to be enough to feed your whole family. Even better if you manage the clean-up!
Adults:
Whether you have kids at home or roommates, you can always aim to make mealtime more fun! Today you can setup a “restaurant” style mealtime with a menu (even if there is only one thing on it). Consider pulling out your fanciest dishes or a table cloth to make a meal feel special. Feel free to dress up fancy and light some candles. It’s your night out!
Today’s kindness challenge has the purpose of being kind to your family or other people who you lived with. I would love to hear what you made (or what your kids made for you)!

I love the idea of pulling out the fancy dishes and dressing up – we are going to have to do that for sure. Around here, our younger son has decided to work on making the perfect pizza crust. Right now he’s testing a dough that rises (in the fridge) for 1, 3, 5 or 7 days. Last night was day 3 and it was already better than day 1. This has been lots of fun for our family, so I can definitely say that your idea is a good one!

Our kids (11,13) are responsible for making lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays (days both parents are working from home). So far they’ve done simpler things like pancakes or tortellini with relatively little planning ahead. We’ve switched it to Mom giving two options that they can cook, so the last meal was chicken, potato pockets (think like a huge tater tots stuffed with cheese and spinach from freezer to oven) and cooked carrots. In my opinion, the best meal of the week was ham, au gratin potatoes and green beans.
I like the restaurant menu idea. We used to do this with leftovers — not enough of any one thing for the entire family but enough entrees in total. Thanks for the reminder!
